Super Junior Breaks Records with ‘Super Show 4’ in Taiwan

Super Show 4 is still stepping across the world, and this time, it’s scored in Taiwan. From February 2-5, Super Junior held its Super Show 4 in Taipei at the Taipei Arena and met with 40,000 of its fans.

Tickets sold out as soon as they were made available and set a record for the fastest selling concert in Taiwan performance history, leading the group to add one more concert to its original three. As such, Super Junior became the first foreign singer to hold a set of four concerts in the Taipei Arena and to fill the Arena for each. The group’s success in the country was also forewarned by the fact that many fans crowded Taipei’s Taoyuan International Airport on February 1 to see the members arrive, and that Taiwanese media outlets such as CTV and TVBS rushed to the airport to cover the issue. At the concert, Super Junior sang a colorful string of 36 songs including its original hits such as Sorry Sorry andBonamana, which were major hits in Taiwan, along with other songs from the group’s album and solo performances by the members.

As Super Junior’s fifth studio album Mr. Simple, released in August 2011, is continuing to set a new record on KKBOX, the largest music website in Taiwan, by staying in the no. 1 spot for 25 weeks in a row, the group’s performances of tracks from its fifth album were received especially passionately by the audience.Taiwanese fans prepared a special event for the Super Junior members in every concert, holding up placards reading ‘Eternal friends’ and ‘SJ+ELF=No1’, and floating the group’s mascot pearl sapphire balloons up into the air. On February 3, they also prepared a surprise party for member Kyuhyun’s birthday.Super Junior will be traveling to Singapore from February 18-19 for its Super Show 4.
